The Kentucky Baptist Convention is a cooperative missions and ministry organization made up of nearly 2,400 autonomous Baptist churches in Kentucky. Working through 70 local associations and in cooperation with the Southern Baptist Convention, Kentucky Baptists share a common bond of basic Biblical beliefs and a commitment to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the entire world.
I have spent my ministry serving a pastor of Kentucky Baptist churches. I’ve served First Baptist Church, Mt. Washington (2003–2011), First Baptist Church of Somerset (1999–2003), First Baptist Church of Owenton (1995–99), and South Fork Baptist Church in Owenton (1993–95).
I also had the pleasure of serving as KBC president in 2005–06, first vice president in 2003–04, and president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention Pastors’ Conference in 2002. I’ve served as an assistant professor of evangelism & church growth at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville and as trustee and adjunct professor of missions and evangelism at the University of the Cumberlands. My passion for the Great Commission grew dramatically as I served Southern Baptists as board chairman of the International Mission Board from 2008–10.
I am a native of Jellico, Tennessee. My wife Michelle and I have three children: Daniel, Anna, and Cai.
