Event Series Event Series: Discover FBC

Discover FBC

February 11 @ 9:15 am - 10:15 am

The purpose of this class is to help people understand exactly who First Baptist Church is, what it means to be a member of FBC, and why it even matters to be a member. Often, it is quite difficult to learn about the church. The people, the leaders, the programs, the ministries, the mission, the purpose, the building…all of this is so new and confusing. So, as a means of trying to help those who are interested in FBC, we want to take some time and meet as a group, face to face, and talk about these things. The class is open to anyone with a desire to know more about the church and the membership process. We will cover such topics as:

  • What is the Gospel?
  • What it means to be a follower/disciple of Jesus Christ
  • Why membership matters!
  • What FBC Owensboro believes (as Southern Baptists)
  • The mission and purpose of FBC
  • What goes on at FBC (A review of worship, ministry, and mission opportunities)
  • Discovering your purpose at FBC
  • Introduction to the staff
  • A tour of the facilities
  • Q & A session

Our class is held on the advertised four consecutive Sunday mornings at 9:15 AM in Room 230 (Choir Room). We have chosen to have the class during our Sunday School time since many attending FBC are already coming on Sunday mornings, and for the four weeks of the class, you can join us after the first service or before the second service.

If you have children or students in your family, we have a Sunday school class meeting during this time that would be wonderful for them to attend. If you are currently attending a Sunday School class, this will cause you to miss for approximately one month, but we are convinced that this short absence from your class will benefit your involvement at FBC in the long term.

Since we are dividing up some important sessions over four Sundays, we want to encourage you to make every effort to be there for each of them, but if you think that you might miss one or a few, do not let that stop you from coming!

If you do miss a session, you can make that one up in our next class shortly after this one. For preparation purposes, please register for the class prior to attending, but if you fail to register, do not let that keep you from attending.

Please join us to learn and discover more about FBC and our wonderful family of faith!
