First Baptist Owensboro loves families! We desire to see marriages refreshed, renewed, and thriving under the lordship of Christ. We also desire to see parents pointing their children to Jesus, children pursuing Jesus from an early age, parents discipling their teenagers, and students maturing in the understanding and practice of their faith.
For four Sunday nights in October/November, and six more in February/March, we focus on the health and growth of the family, centered on biblical wisdom as the basis for our instruction and practice. During these two semesters, FBC will offer an opportunity for couples to focus on their marriage. (In 2026/2027 the plan is to offer an opportunity for individuals/couples to focus on their parenting.) In addition, each of the ten Sunday nights offers a place for children and students of all ages to engage God’s Word.
At the end of each session, we provide a meal for the family, hoping to strengthen relationships between the participants as well as practically helping families have a meal before heading home on a Sunday night to get ready for the week ahead. These sessions are intended to deepen First Baptist Church’s understanding of God’s explicit teaching on the family. They are also open to the community, knowing that couples and parents beyond FBC desire to grow in their marriages and parenting. Please see the opportunities below and plan on joining us!

10 Sessions on Discovering How to Develop a Marriage of Unity, Understanding, and Love
Somehow, someway, every marriage becomes a struggle. Everyone’s marriage morphs into something they didn’t intend it to be. At some point you need something sturdier than romance. You need something deeper than shared interests and mutual attraction. You need changed expectations, you need radical commitments, and, most importantly, you need grace.
*Based on study/conference from Paul Tripp.
Couples pay $40 for participant guides and to help offset costs of fellowship meals.
